Monthly Archives: August 2012 At the height of summer, the days are fluid. We work and wait, anticipating the summoning call. Because when the beans are ready, we must be ready too. An overnight bag and the accumulated empty mason jars packed we make the half-day pilgrimage. Mom will be waiting. The kitchen becomes a hive, each of us…  Yogurt, that is. I’ve been making yogurt at home for a while now. And I’ve been pretty pleased with myself for doing so. Prideful in fact. But I mean the kind of pride you have putting your toddler’s painting up on the fridge. That’s a mighty fine painting, you think. Because it’s easy to mistake…  once again reminding me why I endure these aggressive, prickly brambles 50 less delightful weeks a year… |
